Lake Tahoe is nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains at an altitude of more than 6,200 feet, high above the nearby valleys of California and Nevada. With 72 miles of shoreline and a depth of more than 1,600 feet, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest and deepest alpine lakes in the world.
The area, which is only 100 miles east of Sacramento, California, and 60 miles south of Reno, Nevada, enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year. There is enough snow in the winter to make the local ski resorts world famous, but the temperature rarely gets down to zero. Summer days are warm and sunny, but not hot enough to require air conditioning. In winter, residents and visitors
enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and ice skating. Summer activities include sunbathing on the local beaches, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and golf. And the local casinos offer entertainment year-round. For more information visit http://www.tahoe.com.
